Abu Tartour is the largest phosphate rock mine in Egypt, with a current capacity of about 2.5 million MT/year. In 2018, Misr Phosphate Company acquired the rights to operate the entire mine. The reserves are estimated to be over four (4) billion metric tons, which ensures the consistent supply of phosphate ore to any downstream projects.
